http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...e-unidentified-structures-in-Gobi-desert.html These look like crop circles. Or maybe some advanced space program, such as: More links: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=504658&page=1 (Keyhole is the mapping company Google bought) http://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/mbth1/china_google_earth_spots_huge_unidentified/
These are very interesting Qaexl. I tried finding some of this stuff on Google Earth with no luck whatsoever though. I would like to get an idea of where they are exactly as well as seeing if there is more to the surrounding areas than what is being reported here. I've gotten a kick out of finding several crop circles on Google Earth when scanning over areas in the UK.
Let's see: All of the sites are on the borders of Gansu province and Xinjiang, some less than 100 miles from Jiuquan, the headquarters of China's space programme and the location of its launch pads. And the keyhole link has the .kmz attachments that should show up on Google Earth. I have not tried it yet though. -Qaexl
Ah, I see. I didn't know about that .kmz thing. Trying to find this stuff just using the information provided in the article was very hard to do... at least for me. It brought up several different locations. EDIT: Yes, works nicely. Just east of the second picture in your first post there is a larg square that looks like it has been dug out and just north of that there are some strange little areas dug out as well. I thought they were bunkers at first but when zooming they look like indentations.
Yeah. Just for clarity for anyone else following along: the .kmz contains placemarkers and annotations you can load into Google Earth. When you click on those attachments in the keyhole BBS site, Google Earth will load them and let you zoom to those places. Although there are lots of evidence to suggest these "crop circles" were probably some sort of space or cruise missile test facility, I'm not ready to write off the high weirdness either. More fun things: In Chinese Roswell, the author wrote about the circular, glass constructs in the Gobi Desert. Ones that may have been made by nuclear explosions. They were found in the Gobi desert before the Chinese had nuclear capability. The author speculates they were ancient, perhaps related to a nuclear war that the (Indian) Vedic had recorded. -Qaexl
