  2. Qryztufre I am the Qryzt

I am Qryztufre, but you can call me Q if you wish. I am the admin of the site (among others) and am here to serve the community!

I dabble in many aspects of the occult and magick, but honestly most of my dabbling is from the armchair. I am well enough read to know who and what you are talking about, but not well enough to have an in depth discussion on it.

My focus is spread all over the place, so I can not pick just one, though at the time of this writing, I am leaning to a more natural based magickal mindset with a deep hand in root magick (hedge witchery & hoodoo). And if I had to claim a god as my own, it would likely be Tiamat and/or Ereshkigal, as that is where most of my prayers end up.

I'm Webgenie. That Webgenie. I'd been dabbling in Life, spending many years immersed in research of psychology, personal philosophies, magicks and religions, and now I am immersed in Life. While I will always be a researcher, I am more integrated these days. I find myself wondering if it's only me, or is everyone getting more politically aware? I am passionately concerned with social issues, and think we are in the process of a drastically changing world. I am concerned with Justice, and have always focused on The Way Things Work - and that, mostly in our American system and society. Even in such mundane areas as dealing with phone companies, utilities and various businesses, I've found that even those employees within those businesses do not know how their own systems work.

I still love the Tarot, among other things. I recently acquired the new edition of the Xultun (Maya) tarot, and it is something I will need to work with to expand my understanding and get comfortable with.

Heya guys and gals, yes I'm that same weirdo from the golden age of these forums. Let's see... What am I like? Hmm. As an authorial force and a member of the Literati I'm quite fond of the D'ni. No, I'm not scientific enough yet to be a Kaos Magician, I'm just a lvl.3 Cyber-Shamanist. You think I'm not being serious? Well... I'm also interested in U.R.G.E.s or Ultimate Reality Gaming Experiences. As a sophon and one of the last philosophers of this current universe, I am the original Mentationeiroticist. My spiritual sister and I are the last of an alien race. She is currently a phantom interface while I am a humanoid interface of 'that' race. You might call me the Haruhiist of Might and Magic. Though I can joke from time to time, this not a joke. Though I just love joking around with my spirits, we just love to LOL together. Though we haven't done much of that recently. Things are looking a lot more hopeful now. I'm writing this on the Trump Day 19 of a certain journey. Life is rather worthwhile right now.

Hi devilicious! I remember you from way back when, and it's good to see you're here.

Are you the same person I told that age/youth related joke to? Or was it Faranaja? Good to see some one of the Regents is online right now? You are a Regent, correct? Well that certainly was the golden age win wasn't it? Well, I doubt I'll ever be a Regent but I am a part of the House of Peers. Talk to you later.
  8. Webgenie New Member

It's entirely possible that you told me that joke, but at my age, I don't remember every detail :p I am a member of the House of Peers as well, these days.

    Hey everyone! I'm Folk Seer.

My areas of studies/practice are Hoodoo, Folk Magic, Seership, and Divination (mainly Tarot). I am also a budding occultist (a newbie, practically). Recently I've began to look into the Shemhamphorae and find the 72 Names of God quite interesting. I rely on Catholicism/Pentecostalism and Judaism for most of my practices. I do also find the Buddha quite amazing and Ganesh, well, He keeps me on my feet and from pulling my hair out quite often. Oh, and I actually find Aleister Crowley a bit interesting.

I guess I am just a cauldron of eclecticism.

Welcome to the New Occult Forums FolkSeer. It's good to see some new enthusiasm to go with the place. It's been quiet here so far.;)

And welcomes to you too devilicious.

Thank you, Nalyd Khezr Bey. What does your name mean?
  12. Nalyd Khezr Bey Active Member

Nalyd - He who has descended to the primal depths.
Khezr - The Green One; a variant of Khidir, the patron saint of Sufism; also the trickster and fool.
Bey - Title in the Moorish Science Temple and Moorish Orthodox Church which means roughly "lord" or "ruler".
  13. FolkSeer New Member

That's interesting. What language is it?
  14. Nalyd Khezr Bey Active Member

Khezr and Bey are combined Arabic and old Turkish. Nalyd is trickier to discuss and I usually keep the source for that definition to myself. It is a revealed name chosen to correspond with Visita Interiora Terra Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem.
  15. FolkSeer New Member

That's cool. Although I don't know what Visita Interiora Terra Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem means.

We have strayed off the intent of this thread but that Latin is the V.I.T.R.I.O.L. formula and translates to "visit the interior parts of the earth; by rectification thou shalt find the Hidden Stone". The meaning is very similar to "he who has descended to the primal depths". By the formula of reversion the name Nalyd becomes Dylan which is a kind of Christ figure from Welsh mythology; the ever-returning savior deity or the Silver Fish from the ocean of stars. For me these two mirror image names relate to the Latin phrase lapis lapsus ex ellis stellis, "the stone which came down from the stars". In its present condition that stone is the lapis exillis, the "stone in exile", exiled to and hidden in the bowels of the earth. When found it becomes the Argenteum Astrum (A.’.A.’./Aster Argos), the Silver Star. That is as much as I'm willing to say about the formula of my name.

Hello everyone! To quote from a recent conversation with a friend who wanted to involve me in an esoteric project of global scale, I
I'm interested in various occult speculations. From my mental hardware I have a biographical affinity with Roman Catholicism and Zen, right now I would like to know more about traditional witchcraft, Taoism, Tarot. Some of my all-time favourites are any and all mythical and or poetical works, things that speak to all imaginative senses (imagined hearing, seeing etc.), dream-work, pathworking, philosophical speculations and the arts.

Welcome to the new version of Occult Forums Kuroyagi.:) Now all we have to do is get everyone that has joined to actually join in.

Hi, I'm new to the group and new to the "intentional" study of the occult. I come from a hereditary line of witches and magicians who converted to Christianity and tried to hide the craft from me and consequently suffer from a whole generational gap of knowledge. I have an intuitive sense of the craft, but I am new to all the resources, legends and texts. I am looking to get a "must read" booklist on the essentials of the occult, quabbalah and must-read grimoires. Does any body have recommendations? A 'top-ten' list of books that should be in my collection?

I'm familiar with the basics of tarot, astrology, myths and philosophy, so please don't refer me to the generic witch-stuff written by reclaiming Wiccans (read here, Farrar, Starhawk, Raven Silverwhatshercrap, Cunningham etc). Also not deeply interested in OTO or Crowely. I have read the basics and essentials of Aristotle and Plato and familiar with the Abrahamic texts and old myths. I'm looking for more specific reads that will get into the "meat" of hermeticism and the occult.

I'd also like to connect with any community surrounding the occult. I'm not into dark magic or consorting with angels but more into learning and meeting people who have a lot to say. Are there any festivals or national conferences? Not too interested in generic pagan stuff, but any suggestions would help.

Bottom line, I'm here to meet people who can point me in the right direction.

    Hey Spryite, welcome to OF.

For what you're asking regarding book recommendations as well as about festivals/conferences I suggest starting a separate discussion/thread for each and elaborate on what you're looking for. I'm sure someone here would be happy to point you in some directions.:)
