With permission, I am posting Kuroyagi's description of X-magic. It is the spontaneous creation of interdimensional cross-roads (x-ings) at any point where one needs them and then either using them 1) as gates and focus-points into other worlds or other aspects of this one or 2) as reference points in relation to their peripherically created inbetweens (as anti-gates or negatives in order to get inbetween them), its actually the most comprehensive explanation of magic I have ever found... I would not mind hearing some about this idea (e.g. of crossing the Aquarian double-stream) again... (Kuroyagi, Original Post)
And with permission from myself I will add what I had to say about X-Magic since I actually had a hand in creating the term. This is just for its historical context. Whether or not the term was used by others before I don't know for sure but "X-Magic" was just a term coined in private conversations by Energyflash* and myself to designate the currently unknown or unconceived aspects of magical theory and practice as well as the next evolutionary step. It can mean anything to anyone. Since it was included in our Magic Catastrophe forum with no context or definition it was free to interpret so some of us ran with it but there are no set theories or practices associated with the name. We attached quite a few "X" metaphors to it though including such things as Crowley's "Ordeal X" (ordeal of the crossing), the crossing of the dual streams of Aquarius (double current Horus-Ma'at), the crossroads, Kuroyagi's definition, X marks the spot, etc. but it was all theoretical speculation at that time. I think I started adding the alternate names like X-perimental Magic, X-istential Magic, X-it Magic, X-periential Magic, etc. I also had the idea that since Results (Chaos) Magic was so focused on what works to get results without spending much time questioning it then X-Magic could focus on why it works. This was my own curiosity at work because I grew tired of Chaos Magicians always saying things like "whatever works" and giving it no further thought. Creativity and curiosity, and inspiration for that matter, seemed (and stills seems) to be lacking there. To know the "what" of it is pretty easy but in order to really make innovations in magic, i.e. to forge the next evolutionary step, I feel that understanding the "why" of it is essential. Kuroyagi's definition is the coolest in my opinion just because it is most in the spirit of what Energyflash and I had in mind. SOURCE As for what Kuroyagi said there... that is X-actly what X-Magic is. We are in the Aeon+ of a Double Current; Ingress and Regress. In some areas of Thelemic thought this dual current is called Horus-Ma'at. Whether the "Age of Aquarius" has any relevance here is questionable but the familar Aquarian symbol with two zig-zag streams is symbolic of this dual stream. At present we are at a cross-roads where gateways are open giving us access to previous currents, sub-currents and future currents. All previous aeons in linear time are obsolete. They must be redirected down new channels to become effective. This is something a lot of magicians and occultists don't appear to be aware of. The old "gods" must be reformed and put in line with new magical formulae; the new Logos. *Energyflash was a member of the old Occult Forums. +The following from the Theosophical Glossary should make clear what I mean by Aeon. Aeon(s) (Latin) Aion (Greek) [from aion time] An age, a period of time; used alone, equivalent to the word logos, but the usual meaning includes a spiritual being considered as an emanation from the divine essence and also a period of time which is brought about by the existence of this spiritual being. In the Gnostic systems it signified the various creative powers issuing from the demiurgic Logos, and varying in degree from the most spiritual or ethereal planes to the most gross. Valentinus held that a perfect aion called Propator, equivalent to the First Logos, existed before bythos or the spatial deep (equivalent to the Second Logos). Blavatsky explains that it is “Aion, who springs as a Ray from Ain-Soph (who does not create), and Aion, who creates, or through whom, rather, everything is created, or evolves” (SD 1:349). This twofold use of a word to denote a period of time and a deific power, also appears in Manu, and in the names of the Biblical patriarchs and the periods assigned to their respective lifetimes. (See FSO 194-5 for more detail) The adjective aeonios occurs frequently in the New Testament, where it is mistranslated as eternal or everlasting.
To see if I can get this going again. The following quote (from Magic Catastrophe) is one of the last things I ever said about X-Magic back in October 2006 before I didn't think much of it as a concept again: I find this interesting because I stated that at a time when I was going through a personal shift of my own that actually put me on that very path I'm describing there.
I have not much to add either, at this point. Maybe one could also look at the numbers that are involved: differently to the famed three (3), the triangluation, the triad which traditionally is a glyph of manifestation and creation (or in case of a mutli-triangulated helix: an e-volution), the X-ings come from the two (2), from duality but recur it into the one (1), the point, the singularity so they could be seen as a form of ascending, of anti-duality, an-manifestation. What Nalyd said above: focusing on the why instead of the how-method and techné- of magic, is also interesting. It would concentrate ones efforts on interpretation, hermeneutics, maybe perspective change and highest mentation and philosophy even? Qabbalistically speaking, rather of the eternal archetypal world of Atziluth then of Br'iah the World of Creation and Manifestation. Is that what you say? Anyway, thanks guys for refreshing this topic again, haven't thought about it for some time...
